New Living Room, Part II

Remember once upon a time when I was going to redo my living room? Like two years ago? Well, since then I’ve moved, met the love of my life, and adopted two kitties. All those changes added up to me nothing doing a goddamn thing about my new living room…until now.

Next month the gf will be moving into my place and I’m finally ready to pull the trigger on reupholstering my sofa/mid-century chair and changing out some of my house basics. I’m so ready that two giant bolts of fabric are actually hanging out in the living room, waiting for the upholster to finally call me back. Wanna see what we picked?

The girlfriend and both fell in love with the mustard meets olive cotton velvet from Zarin Fabrics. The punchy aqua floral took some convincing; the gf wasn’t feeling it. I’m still looking for the perfect geometric rug to round out the room, but so far this red & orange number has my attention. Over the dining room table I’d love to see a row of paper cut mobiles instead of a more traditional light fixture. All of these picks can be seen on my Pinterest board dedicated to all things new apartment.

kickstart this.

Friends- do you know about Kickstarter? The website where you can fund businesses and change lives?

Our good friend Diana Rogers is looking to expand her totally awesome iPad and laptop collection and could use help. And, our cupboards are looking a little bare. Watch her video, find out how that little (*ahem* HUGE) company in Cupertino helped her get her start and even see a few shots of good ‘ol SITE NYC in there for good measure.

(backing this project means we might get these neon composition notebook sleeves at the shop! I die!)

I know just how hard it is to fund a growing company, and I admire artists who are willing to go the extra mile to succeed. Plus, when you donate to her Kickstarter you also great prizes! Here’s what I’m getting:

Totally badass, right?

less waiting, more action

(Image by Trey Speegle via my Pinterest.)

You know what, kids? I realized the other day, I can’t do this all myself. It’s time to call in some additional help.

I’m looking for someone with a keen eye for detail and a sharp styling sense to help photograph some of our amazing new goodies, the shop, and possible SITE events . These photos will help us put together future ad campaigns, keep bloggers up-to-date on our great stock and make our website shine.

Think you can rock this gig? Send a hello, and maybe a sample photo or two to mackenzi{at}sitenyc{dot}com. I can’t wait to hear from you!

Surprisingly Good.

Friends, here’s a confession for you: I occasionally buy things from Overstock.com. It’s true. It’s not often; perhaps a rug here or there, and I rarely like to talk about it. But these pieces are almost too good not to share, or so it seems…
